STAFF at an iconic Hobart pub grasp fears over what the sale of the trade will imply for his or her employment, the hospitality union says.
North Hobart establishment the Republic Bar and Cafe has been sold pending agreement to eating place monopolist corporate Pub Banc Group which owns Shipment Bar, Jack Greene, Put up St Social, Observatory Bar and Telegraph Lodge.
List agent John Blacklow of Knight Frank stated the trade was once sold for “pretty close” to its $four million asking worth.

She stated the upcoming new house owners had given workforce little indication on their imaginative and prescient for the bar, including calls had already been made on staffing preparations.
“It is disappointing that it appears Pub Banc has chosen not to keep on the core staff who have made The Repub the friendly, welcoming, well-patronised institution it is,” she stated.
“The union understands that everlasting workforce have already been made redundant, whilst different informal workforce have not begun to listen if their employment will proceed with Pub Banc.
“Many Hobartians could have fond reminiscences of giant nights, nice gigs, and pleasant down-to-earth provider at The Republic Bar, all made imaginable through the superior workforce workforce.
“We would encourage Pub Banc to do the right thing by these loyal staff members, by offering them ongoing employment and the opportunity to be part of The Republic’s next chapter.”
A Pub Banc spokesman stated the corporate was once not able to be offering remark till after sale agreement on February four.
The primary beverages had been poured in 1831 when the pub was once referred to as the Rose Lodge Space. It was once later known as the Rose and Crown.
